Creative Hawaii Podcast Interview

This week has been topsy turvy. On July 3rd, 2021 we lost the utmost Heroine of the Hawaiian movement toward Sovereignty, Aunty Haunani-Kay Trask.

Iʻve been incredibly touched by those of you who showed up to the Fourth of July on the 5th Event up at Cooper Center in Volcano Village. Thank you for listening and Learning thus far - from the backhistory of our Heroines to the reasons behind elements that I placed in their Portraits. For the few who have reached out to check on permissions to sell Aunty Haunaniʻs work, I also say Big mahalo. It means so much to me seeing how our lāhui has her best interested in mind. Proof of the profound Value and impact that our amazing HKT had on all of our lives.

Even more so, I have binged on YouTube in the wake of Aunty Haunaniʻs passing. Just to find myself in the embrace of her wrath once more, the first place and an incubation space where many of us found our origins and manifested our kuleana to this way of being Hawaiian today.

It has been a blessing and honor to be hosted and discuss Aunty Haunani and the subject of Womanhood on the 5th episode of Hawaii Litʻs Creative Hawaiʻi Podcast. Big Mahalo to Krystal and Mary, the amazing 2 woman Team that runs this production which raises the voices and experiences of us creatives.
